Taryn Kaiser
Welcome to the Douglas Fir Room!
Taryn was born and raised in New Jersey. Before settling down in Sonoma County, she lived in various places: Flagstaff, Arizona; Ashland, Oregon; St. Croix, US Virgin Islands; and New Paltz, New York. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English in 2004 and her Master's Degree in Special Education from State University of New York at New Paltz in 2006. Taryn received her California Teaching Credential as an Education Specialist in 2009.
While obtaining her Master's Degree, Taryn began teaching special education. She has taught in numerous special education settings ranging from non-public schools to public schools. In 2006, Taryn received her certification in the TEACCH Program Approach through the University of North Carolina. This certification enhanced her instruction in developing the concept of the “Culture of Autism” as a way of thinking about the characteristic patterns of thinking and behavior seen in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Providing a safe and cultured learning environment for ALL students is her passion.
Taryn lives in Occidental with her husband, two sons (ages 10 and 6), dog, and goat. Her older son attends 5th grade at Salmon Creek School and her younger son is in 1st grade. Her hobbies include yoga, gardening, running, hiking, and traveling. Taryn is excited to begin her sixth year at Harmony Union School District!
